Chardham Yatra Jeep Safari Tour 2024

The sacred pilgrimage that is performed at four different destinations in Garhwal region of Uttarakhand i.e Yamunotri, Gangotri, Kedarnath and Badrinath holds immense significance in the Hindu culture. The Chardham Yatra, as it is popularly called, is an arduous journey that not only requires determination but only physical strength. Each sacred Dham or destination is nestled in the lap of Himalaya, where adventurous road condition, unpredictable weather and insufficient basic amenities are today’s challenge for this safari. Despite the difficult situations, pilgrims not only manage to perform the pilgrimage but also promise to return next year to seek the blessing. Indeed this Chardham Yatra is the reflection of strong faith of the devotees and even more stronger force of nature. One might call it a spiritual journey but surprisingly, the pilgrimage has been performed by many historians, archeologists and naturalists only to discover the several other important aspects of it.

ITINERARY

Day 1 Delhi - Rishikesh, 232km (Drive 6 hrs)
Pick up is scheduled from Delhi and then a drive to Rishikesh by road/train (as per preference). On arrival at Rishikesh, we shall check- in at the hotel. Evening is kept free for a visit to the Swargashram and for attending the evening "Aarti" (worshipping of river Ganga on the river bank).

Day 2 Rishikesh - Barkot, 220km (Drive 7-8 hrs)
Early in the morning, we shall depart from from Rishikesh to Barkot. Lunch will be organized en route at Mussoorie. We shall also visit Kempty Falls on the way. By evening, we will reach Barkot, where we will check-in at a hotel/camp for dinner and night stay.

Day 3 Barkot - Yamunotri - Barkot (Drive 32km; trek 14km round)
After an early breakfast, we shall leave for Hanuman Chatti (drive 32km). We shall take a local jeep to reach Phool Chatti to shorten the trek by 5km. From Phool Chatti, we will begin the trek of 7/12km one way. Arrive at Yamunotri and go for "Darshan" at the temple. Come back to Phool Chatti and then drive back to Barkot for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 4 Barkot - Harsil (drive 152km; 6-7 hrs)
After breakfast, we shall drive to Harsil, which is at a distance of about 152km. We will stop at Uttarkashi for lunch. Also, we will make a short stop at Gangnani for a dip in hot sulphur water spring. Drive to the camp/hotel in Harsil for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 5 Harsil - Gangotri - Harsil. Drive 22km one way
After the breakfast, we will leave for Gangotri. On arrival, we shall take a holy dip in the sacred river Ganga. After performing "Pooja" and taking rest for some time, we will return to the camp/hotel. Dinner and overnight rest at camp/hotel.

Day 6 Harsil - Guptkashi 283km (drive 9-10 hrs)
After an early morning breakfast, we will drive to Guptkashi. Lunch will be served en route at Srinagar. We shall see the heritage city of Tehri. After lunch, we will restart our journey and will head towards beautiful river Mandakini. After travelling along this river, we shall reach Guptkashi late in the evening. On arrival, check-in at the hotel for dinner and an overnight stay.

Day 7 Guptkashi - Sonprayag - Kedarnath (drive 32km; trek 19km)
After the breakfast, we will drive to Gaurikund (a 32km drive one way). On arrival, we will begin our trekking to Kedarnath. We shall stop for lunch en route and arrive Kedarnath by late afternoon. On arrival, check-in at a Huts/Tent. After relaxing for a while, we will go to the temple to perform "Pooja" and "Darshan". In the evening, we shall visit Adi Shankaracharya Samadhi, which is in the vicinity of the temple. Dinner and overnight stay at Kedarnath.

Day 8
Kedarnath - Guptkashi (trek 19k m; drive 32k m) After breakfast, we will start return back to Gaurikund and take a bath in the hot water sulphur spring. After this, we shall drive back to Guptkashi to reach the camp/hotel. Dinner and overnight stay at Guptkashi.

Day 9 Guptkashi - Joshimath via Chopta 175km (6-7 hrs)
After the breakfast, we will drive to Joshimath via Chopta, which is a beautiful site. The drive will be through a thick forest full of medicinal plants. We shall stop for the lunch at Pipalkoti. Arrive at the hotel/camp at Joshimath by late afternoon. Dinner and overnight stay at Joshimath.

Day 10 Joshimath - Badrinath - Joshimath (drive 90km)
After having the breakfast, we will leave for Shri Badrinathji. On arrival, we shall go for "Darshan" and after it leave for an excursion to the nearby Mana village. After the visit, we will return back to Joshimath for dinner and overnight stay at the hotel.

Day 11 Joshimath - Rishikesh 250km (drive 9-10 hrs)
After the breakfast, we will drive back to Rishikesh. We shall stop for lunch at Srinagar. If time permits, we will be stopping by Devprayag (the confluence of rivers like Alaknanda and Bhagirathi that form the Ganga). By evening, we shall reach Rishikesh, where we shall check-in at the the hotel for an overnight stay. We will re-visit Swargashram, also this time, we will pay short visit to the Ram and Lakshman Jhoolas, the Gita bhavan and attend the evening "Arti" on the banks of the Ganga.

Day 12 Rishikesh - Delhi
After the breakfast, we will drive back to Delhi. Tour ends on arrival in Delhi.
